— Our Vision

For almost 40 Years we have been Supporting Homeless Youth on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. is an ACNC registered charity that supports young people aged between 16-25 years in need of housing assistance and support. Our business relates to supporting young people to gain, maintain and sustain accommodation tenancies. We aim to reduce and prevent the cycle of homelessness. We partner with our community to raise awareness about Youth Homelessness and collaborate to find solutions. We deliver specific planned activities, programs and follow-up support, focusing on living skills to foster independence, sustain tenancies, health and wellbeing.

We believe that Housing First is the best response to support young people to get back on track. We assist young people and their families where appropriate, to work to resolve the issues that are putting them at risk of homelessness. We also support young people who are sleeping rough, couch surfing, or living at home.

Our specialised assistance provides holistic wrap-around support to ensure young people’s individual needs are heard, identified and supported. Youth Outreach provides assessment, advice, referral support, brief intervention support, living skill development programs, tenancy skills support and access to accommodation based on availability.

In partnership with the Department of Housing and Community Housing Ltd we provide support to young people in the Supporting People in Housing Program (SPin) this program is for four young people 16-25 years.

The Youth Outreach Mobile Support team provides community-based support to secure and/or sustain tenancies as well as assist with brief interventions for those presenting as currently experiencing homelessness.

Youth Outreach self-funds accommodation initiatives to meet the demand of increasing need for housing opportunities such as ECHO Families, ECHO Share and ECHO Futures. We are seeing an increasing number of young families presenting who require housing assistance. The ECHO Families program assists young families and single parents to gain, maintain and sustain home environments.

Our ECHO Program is supported by community and philanthropic donations and provides living & life skill programs and activities. It also allows us to support education, training and licencing goals. Our young people benefit from additional funds and partnerships such as items that support them to move into independence and set up their own homes.

We rely on Government funding assistance from the Department of Housing to meet the cost of service delivery for mobile support and in our immediate and transitional accommodation where we provide 19 places for young people aged between 16-19 years. The Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. self-funds accommodation projects to meet the demand for housing opportunities for young people.
