Local Tech Company Supporting Homelessness

Over the last few years, local Tech Company, ONGC Systems has been significantly involved in the running of our IT Systems, here at GCPHY. Having learnt that there are around 48,000 homeless Australians, all under the age of 25, the team at ONGC decided to lend us a hand where they could.

We initially met up with ONGC to discuss the full range of solutions they could offer to help streamline our IT Systems, allowing us to focus on the real problem at hand rather than wasting time administering the outdated IT system.

ONGC Systems provided us with a thorough review of existing systems and the development of a new document sharing and communication platform, all free of charge. They suggested that the implementation of Microsoft 365 and Azure would be the most suitable options for our non-profit organisation. As part of the package, ONGC also offered ongoing IT support for our internal team for almost three years.

“ONGC staff offered innovative and relevant solutions to our needs” stated Angela Sheeran, General Manager of Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth (GCPHY). “This time-saving technology has allowed staff and volunteers to invest more time back into the young people we support.”

GCPHY supports around 350 young people a year, through a range of programs for young people aged 16-25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

ONGC General Manager, Steve Dawson, stated: "It's been a rewarding experience for both myself and my team giving back to our community as part of such a worthy cause. Our involvement over the last few years has helped the team at the Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth streamline their systems to better focus on their initiatives in the community and less time on managing inefficient IT systems.

Steve, then went on to say, “We were able to leverage our relationship with Microsoft to take advantage of their not-for-profit benefits with Office 365 and Azure, meaning the new systems were able to be implemented will little to no cash outlay. Being a charity, this can go a long way towards providing another bed for youth going through tough times."
