About Us

Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. is an incorporated community organisation formed in 1984 to provide crisis accommodation and support for homeless young people in the Gold Coast Local Government area.

Accommodation at GCPHY is primarily funded under the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) and through the Department of Communities.

GCPHY provides the following services:

  • Short-Term supported accommodation
  • Medium-Term supported accommodation
  • Referral to other agencies
  • Crisis Support
  • Advocacy.

To encourage young people to reach their full potential by providing quality services in a safe and supportive environment.

Philosophy

Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth Inc. believes in:

  • the right of people to make choices in their own lives;
  • the right of people to dignity, respect, privacy and confidentiality;
  • the right of people to be valued as individuals;
  • the right of people to access services on a non-discriminatory basis;
  • the right of the community to accountable and responsive services.

 

Consumer Rights

As a consumer of GCPHY’s services you have the following rights:

1.    To be treated fairly and with respect – you can expect to be listened to, taken seriously and treated politely.

2.    To confidentiality – you can expect that information about you will not be provided to anyone outside GCPHY without your permission.

3.    To withdraw from service provision – you may choose at any time to ask GCPHY to cease delivery of services and remove your details from the GCPHY contact lists.

4.    To have information – you can expect to be provided with information about GCPHY services and about youth injury prevention that is accurate to the best of GCPHY knowledge.

5.    To receive appropriate and timely responses to needs – you can expect that GCPHY services will be appropriate to your needs and provided in a timely manner, within the parameters of GCPHY's role and available resources.

6.    To receive quality services – you can expect to receive services which are well managed, planned and coordinated and supported by a continuous quality improvement program.

7.  To appeal – if you are unhappy with the conduct or a decision of a GCPHY staff member you have the right to discuss this with the relevant staff member or the Manager and to make a complaint.
